Fullerton’s Trailblazers

Vivian Cadman Eddy WWII Aviator Pioneer

Honoring Fullerton’s Aviation Pioneer: Vivian Cadman Eddy! 🌟✈️

From the heart of Orange County, Vivian Cadman Eddy stands as a testament to Fullerton’s rich history of female trailblazers. As the only woman from the county to join the esteemed Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP) during WWII, she defied gender norms and took to the skies in defense of her country. Fullerton, a city renowned for its pioneering spirit - having birthed some of the first prominent female movie directors and entrepreneurs - proudly recognizes Vivian’s indomitable spirit. Her post-war efforts continued as she championed recognition and veteran status for her fellow WASPs, embodying the same tenacity that Fullerton’s trailblazing women have always showcased. #FullertonTrailblazer #WASPHeroine #LegacyOfCourage

Lois Weber Most Important Director of Early 20th Century

🎬🌟 Celebrating a Legend of the Lens: Lois Weber, a cinematic pioneer who called Fullerton her home. In 1914, she etched her name in history as the first American woman to direct a feature-length dramatic film with ‘The Merchant of Venice’. 🎥

Film historian Shelley Stamp regards Weber as one of the early film industry’s brilliant minds, alongside D.W. Griffith and Cecil B. DeMille. Fullerton’s own star, Weber’s trailblazing spirit, and innovative vision continue to inspire filmmakers and dreamers alike.

Lilian Yeager Pioneer Entrepreneur

In the heart of Fullerton stands a testament to tenacity: Lillian Yaeger, a towering figure of ambition who steered through the barriers of her time. As the first woman in Southern California to own an automobile agency in 1914, Lillian’s spirit of enterprise blazed a trail for the women who would follow.

Born into a family chasing the elusive glitter of gold mines, Lillian instead mined her own potential, converting a bicycle repair shop into a flourishing car dealership. Her success was not just in business; it was a victory for women’s empowerment during an era when the odds were stacked against them.

Her home, the historical marker on West Brookdale Place, whispers tales of her audacious spirit. Even now, her legacy fuels the drive toward a future where every woman can craft her own destiny. Let’s honor Lillian Yaeger—Fullerton’s guiding star, whose radiance melted the frost of limitation and lit the way for generations.
